Remembering...

an old fashioned Christmas Eve...
listening to Christmas Carols on the radio
receiving phone calls from loved ones far away
lights on a tiny ceramic tree...

but more importantly, a small baby in a manger filled with straw
Mother Mary and a carpenter named Joseph
angels, three kings, shepherds, sheep and camels

above are chalk pieces for mangers from the 1940's
a family heirloom that I keep on display with my pottery collection
all year long
I find them to beautiful to pack away in boxes until Christmas 🎄

  1. I love how you get every bit of enjoyment there is out of your pieces Jan and to not pack them away in boxes is a delightful habit.
The chalk pieces brought back a memory of my Mum and Dad's bookends from the 1940's which I always loved to look at as a child - they're still holding up books and look beautiful. Thanks for the trip back :D)

    1. I am so like a child at Christmas Sue! I just want to decorate and release the magick and the joy of the holiday season.
      Those bookends sound wonderful.
Happy to help you return to your beautiful childhood memories :)

  2. Your decorations are heart-warming, as always, and I love how you cherish the pieces that have been handed down to you. I have some angels and birds that I leave out all year, too. Have a wonderful day, hugs, Valerie

    1. I do love and enjoy having something to hold that carries love and memories with it.
How wonderful Valerie "angels and birds" both fly. I would leave them out and admire them everyday, too.

  3. Now that's a good idea. Leaving the Nativity set on display all year round. We might do this this year. Done (some) indoor decorations. None outdoors. It keeps raining non-stop here.

    Thank you Jan. God bless.

    1. I feel that you would enjoy having the Nativity on display all year Victor. I like that I can see Baby Jesus, Mother Mary and St. Joseph everyday.
Rain can feel depressing after awhile. Hope it stops soon and you can see the sunshine again!

Blessings To You and Your Family ✝

  7. Beautifully composed photos, Jan. I love the old vintage radio, it reminds me of my grandomother. The phone, they sure were very heavy, my grandomother had a different kind but it was also very heavy, Your decorations are truly gorgeous and bring back a wave of memories. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
